A WWII pilot remembers how difficult it was to bring victory over Nazi Germans any closer

Nikolai Shishkin was 19 years old when Nazi Germany attacked the Soviet Union. In 1940, after finishing school, he was called up for military service. He graduated from aviation school and was assigned to a fighter aviation regiment in Kyiv just a month before the war began. The 103-year-old veteran remembers the first day of the war very vividly.
