Abandoned dogs in Ethiopia's capital get little care. One woman wants to change that

One young woman in Ethiopia is trying to support thousands of abandoned dogs on the streets of the capital, Addis Ababa. The 29-year-old has set up a shelter on the city’s outskirts to provide food and a place to stay. She also feeds hundreds of other dogs on the streets and tries to find them homes. She and fellow activists aim to change the local perception that dogs are merely protectors for humans, not pets. As skyscrapers rise and more people move into modern apartments, some pets are abandoned. Authorities have faced criticism for poisoning them.
