Canada's jobs market 'treading water' as unemployment rate rises to 7% in May

The latest labour data from Statistics Canada shows the unemployment rate rose again, to seven per cent in May. Economists say the job market was recovering through the end of 2024, but that the headwinds of the trade war with the U.S. are putting strain on some parts of the economy. (June 6, 2025)
