Defence minister won't provide timeline for F-35 contract review
Defence Minister David McGuinty says Canada's review of the decision to buy F-35 fighter jets will take the time needed to get it right and would not put a deadline on when it will be completed. Prime Minister Mark Carney said last March Canada was reviewing its decision buy up to 88 F-35 stealth fighters from Lockheed-Martin to replace its aging fleet of F-18 fighters. Canada is giving another look to other options including the Gripen fighter jet made by Saab. (Nov. 21, 2025)
