Japan marked the 79th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of the city days before the end of World War II at a ceremony in Nagasaki. Mayor of the city Shiro Suzuki, in his peace declaration at the Nagasaki Peace Park, called for leaders of the nuclear weapons states and those under their umbrella to shift their policy toward abolishing nuclear weapons.
