Self-described big-tree seeker Colin Spratt recently trekked along the west coast of Vancouver Island in search of a colossal western red cedar. Spratt says documenting a cedar that’s six metres wide shows ecosystems can still sustain “mythically large” trees as climate change and industrial logging threaten the next generation.
