Quebec asks specialist doctors to help at understaffed long-term care homes

Quebec Premier Francois Legault is putting a call out to doctors who are usually specialists and general practitioners to lend a hand at shortstaffed long-term care homes. Legault says there's a lack of about 2,000 nurses and orderlies and the system needs more bodies. Legault says doctors pressed into service on the frontlines won't be washing floors, but their training will allow them to help with tasks to address a shortage of nurses like feeding patients, bathing them and administering medications.
