Repairing WestJet plane after rough landing in St. Maarten a challenge: expert

Aviation experts say fixing a WestJet plane that landed roughly in St. Maarten and shut down the Caribbean island’s airport for a day will likely be a challenge. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating after the plane from Toronto barrelled onto the runway of Princess Juliana International Airport. Former pilot and aviation expert Keith Mackey says he thinks a mechanical issue was at play, with a preliminary report to come soon. (Sept. 9, 2025)
