Researchers at UBC’s faculty of land and food systems have demonstrated a cheap and portable device that tests liquids for microplastics, using a 3D-printed box a wireless microscope and a smartphone app. Tianxi Yang says microplastics are a "significant threat" to food safety, health and the environment, and affordable detection could reduce their hazard.(Aug 27, 2024)
